On September 21st, in celebration of International Day of Peace, Apple Montessori Schools’ more than 1,200 teachers, co-teachers, and students gathered virtually via Zoom and from their respective classrooms to sing, “Light a Candle for Peace.” Not did this beautiful moment give us the chance to reinforce Apple’s mission of fostering community, but the lessons of this day also build upon our curriculum of creating socially responsible citizens through peace education.

Apple Montessori Schools will be joining people worldwide to honor the United Nations’ International Day of Peace, September 21, during its “Peace Week” celebrations and peace-inspired activities, culminating on Friday, September 20.

This award is in recognition of the school’s essential role in the community and in the lives of their students.

If I had to pick a favorite area of the Montessori curriculum it would have to be the math area – and this from a lackluster student who hated Algebra and Calculus! I’m not the only teacher who has proclaimed, “If only I had had these materials when I was a student…”
