Apple Montessori Schools is pleased to share that we have recently implemented the iReady literacy program as a pilot effort at our Woodbridge Avenue and Mahwah schools. iReady is an evidence-based instruction and assessment tool that equips educators with the resources they need to drive student success and outcomes.

As part of our ongoing pilot, the first of three diagnostic assessments was recently completed with our PreK and Kindergarten students.

“We are very excited to be piloting this great program, and we are taking every step to implement it with fidelity,” said Apple CEO Andrea Vargas. “We are always in pursuit of new ways to advance our efforts in reading and math for our students, and to incorporate a light touch with technology. We view iReady’s program as a complement to Apple’s modern Montessori method and curriculum. iReady will enable us to assess and progress-monitor our students, providing a chance to accelerate and/or support student effort as appropriate with the goal being all students reading at and above Kindergarten and first grade standards. With iReady, we will also be able to weave technology into the Montessori environment, continuing to provide individualized self-paced learning paths and preparing our students for their future schooling.”

According to its website, iReady provides engaging, high-quality instructional materials along with assessment tools to help teachers and, ultimately, schools set ambitious, attainable goals that create equitable learning environments in which every student succeeds at grade level and beyond. By connecting to actionable, intuitive data, teachers know where to focus and students become more capable and engaged. It is currently in use among over 11 million students and receives high ratings in reading and mathematics from the National Center on Intensive Intervention (NCII) in all three categories that NCII reviews: Academic Screening, Academic Progress Monitoring, and Academic Intervention.

Some of the goals of iReady are to understand how students are currently performing and help teachers create individualized instruction to move them forward.

We are excited to embark on this journey with our Apple community. Be on the lookout for more information and updates!
