Apple Montessori Prepares for Upcoming Election
As the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election nears, students at Apple Montessori Schools will learn the basics of voting & the democratic process, and the importance of using their voice.
Students at each school will get the opportunity to vote in mock themed elections including Crazy Hair/Hat Day vs. Twinning Day; Movie Day vs. Ice Cream Party; Pajama Day vs. Crazy Sock Day; PJ & Movie Day vs. Superhero & Sports Day; PJ Day vs. Sports Jersey Day; and PJ/Movie vs. Jersey/Sports Game Day.
This year, we are exploring the history of various presidents through handwriting activities, coloring, and art projects as part of our mini Social Studies Fair. This hands-on approach allows students to engage creatively while learning about important figures in history. Election activities that encourage children to cast a vote and respect the group's decision can deepen their understanding of citizenship. We also incorporate math lessons that range from simple counting to more complex tallying and graphing, enhancing their analytical skills while they engage with the voting process.
Through voting on something that matters to them, students begin to understand their right to vote and how their voices can lead to real change.
As Apple strives to prepare students to be leaders and well-rounded, successful adults and members of society, we know we'll see some of them on the ballot one day!
