Where Montessori Meets STEAM: TinkRworks At Apple
Curiosity is at the heart of every Montessori classroom. Children are encouraged to ask questions, explore new ideas, solve problems, and discover how the world works through hands-on experiences. At Apple Montessori Schools, we're always looking for meaningful ways to build on that foundation—which is why we're excited to continue offering TinkRworks, our optional STEAM enrichment program for children ages 4 and up.
TinkRworks blends science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) into engaging, project-based experiences that encourage children to build, experiment, invent, and create. More than just a STEAM program, it's an opportunity for children to strengthen their critical thinking, creativity, and confidence while having fun bringing their ideas to life.
Montessori education has always encouraged children to learn by doing. Rather than simply memorizing information, children explore concepts through meaningful, hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and build independence, all at their own pace.
TinkRworks extends those same principles into the world of STEAM. Through building, coding, designing, and experimenting, children become active participants in their own learning, discovering that some of the best lessons come from trying something new, making mistakes (and then adjustments!), and finding solutions along the way.
It's a natural complement to the Montessori philosophy—and another way Apple helps prepare children for the future while nurturing the joy of learning.
Throughout the school year, students complete four exciting projects, each combining hands-on building with age-appropriate coding and engineering concepts.
Project 1: Pushes, Pulls, and Pins
- October 5th – November 27th

- November 30th – January 22nd
- Enrollment Date: By November 9th
Project 3: Tech-A-Sketch
- February 1st – March 26th
- Enrollment Date: By January 11th
Project 4: Picture Perfect
- April 5th – May 28th
- Enrollment Date: By March 15th
Each child receives their own project kit and uses a Chromebook to program and interact with their creations. When a project is complete, students take it home, where they can continue exploring and coding through the TinkRworks online platform with their families.
Every project is designed to make learning exciting while helping children see themselves as builders, inventors, engineers, artists, and problem-solvers.
While children are having fun creating and experimenting, they're also developing skills that will serve them well throughout school and beyond.

Every TinkRworks project is supported by dedicated professional development for Apple Montessori teachers before each new project begins. This specialized training ensures our educators are fully prepared to guide students through each experience, helping every child succeed while maintaining the high-quality learning environment families expect from Apple Montessori Schools.
TinkRworks is available to full-day Apple Montessori students who are at least four years old by the start of the project.
Because every child receives a custom project kit and each project builds on the learning from week to week, enrollment closes prior to the start of each project. Students participate in the complete eight-month program, allowing them to experience the full progression of projects and skills throughout the school year.
Families are encouraged to register early to ensure their child's project materials are ready before the first day of class.
