Observed annually on September 21, the International Day of Peace is a time for us to advocate for world peace and to come together in search of peace & harmony within our communities. This year, Apple students and staff celebrated on Friday, September 19 with songs, crafts, and quality time together.

All 21 schools participated in this global effort, which, proclaimed in 1981, is "devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples."

The Montessori philosophy builds upon creating peace and harmony within each child, among others, and within our environment, which makes the celebration of this special day a natural fit into our year-long curriculum. Throughout the year, Apple students are encouraged to use their unique gifts and knowledge to better the world around them, not just on the International Day of Peace, but every day, while we strive to create socially responsible citizens through Peace Education.

"Peace is what every human being is craving for, and it can be brought about by humanity through the child.” – Dr. Maria Montessori
