When people think about infant & toddler programs, they often picture feeding schedules, naps, and cuddles.

At Apple Montessori Schools, you'll certainly find all of those things—but you'll also find something more: intentional learning experiences designed specifically for little ones.

From sign language to yoga and more, every activity in our infant and toddler classrooms is thoughtfully chosen to support communication, movement, confidence, and healthy development from the very beginning. Because at Apple, we believe learning doesn't begin in preschool. It begins on day one.

Giving Babies a Voice Through Baby Signs

Long before children can say their first words, they have plenty they want to communicate. That's why Apple incorporates sign language in these programs. Using signs allows babies to communicate their needs before they're able to speak clearly, reducing frustration for both children and adults while strengthening early language development.

Our Apple teachers and staff naturally weave signs into everyday classroom routines—during meals, story time, music, diapering, and play—so communication becomes part of each child's day.

Over time, families are often amazed to discover just how much their babies understand and how eager they are to connect with the people around them.

Movement That Builds Growing Minds

Movement plays an essential role in early brain development, which is why our classrooms also include yoga for infants and toddlers.

These gentle, age-appropriate movements help little ones develop:

  • Balance and body awareness
  • Flexibility and coordination
  • Core strength for rolling, crawling, and sitting
  • Relaxation and self-regulation
  • Confidence as they master new physical milestones

Yoga sessions are playful and nurturing, blending songs, movement, stretching, and meaningful interactions between teachers and children.

While it may look like fun—and it certainly is!—these experiences are also helping lay the foundation for healthy physical development and future learning.

More Than Activities—A Thoughtful Curriculum

Sign language and yoga are just two examples of how learning is intentionally woven into every part of the day at Apple.

Alongside these experiences, our infants and toddlers enjoy:

  • Music enrichment
  • Story time
  • Tummy time and movement activities
  • Sensory exploration
  • Fine motor development
  • Practical life experiences designed for each developmental stage

As babies grow, classroom lessons evolve with them—from grasping objects and exploring colors to finger painting, tearing paper, matching objects, and developing greater independence.

Every experience is carefully planned, because even the smallest moments are opportunities to learn.

See It for Yourself

Want to learn more? We'd love to show you how these special experiences come to life in our classrooms.

Join us for one of our three upcoming baby signs and baby yoga demo classes in our schools, set for July 31 (Hillsborough), August 5 (Wayne), and August 14 (Hoboken Maxwell), though families from any area with children in these age ranges are welcome to attend!

You'll have the opportunity to participate alongside your child, meet our educators, and experience firsthand how Apple Montessori nurtures communication, movement, confidence, and joyful learning from the very beginning. Whether you're expecting your first child, have a little one at home, or are exploring early education options, these events offer a wonderful introduction to what makes the Apple experience unique beginning in our infant program.

We hope to see you there!
